Theresa Soto looks at the pieces of her scooter, which was recovered along I-205.
ADVERTISEMENTS
Theresa Soto was devastated when thieves stole her scooter from Clackamas Town Center last week.
But thanks to several citizens' generosity, Soto, who has cerebral palsy, didn’t have to go without a scooter for long. And now she may be able to return the favor.
A driver found Soto’s scooter disassembled along I-205 Saturday. It was stolen on Tuesday, Oct. 20, after it broke down near the bike racks at Clackamas Town Center. Soto went in to get help, and the scooter was gone when she returned.
After hearing about the theft, three different citizens offered to buy Soto a new scooter, or give her one they owned but were no longer using.
Soto issued a statement saying she was "overwhelmed with the outpouring of generosity.”
As for the current scooter, it is damaged, but Soto is hoping to have it refurbished so she can give it to someone else in need.
Clackamas County sheriff’s deputies are still looking for the people who stole the scooter.
