Century turns up the heat in the second half en route to a 64-48 victory

MILWAUKIE – The Milwaukie Mustangs stuck with Class 5A girls basketball power Century for a half in a Dec. 22 contest at Milwaukie.

Ashley Serdar hit back-to-back lay-ups in the closing seconds of the first half to put Milwaukie up 28-25 at halftime.

But that was the Mustangs’ last hurrah.

The Jaguars upped their intensity on defense in the second half and forced turnovers, en route to a 64-48 runaway victory.

“I feel like we didn’t play our hardest,” said Milwaukie senior Lindsay Kanalz. “They out-hustled us [in the second half]…..

“We can beat the press. We just need to look up the court and see who’s open.”
