SEATTLE – Four local athletes won titles at the USATF Region 13 Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships, held here July 10-11.
Clackamas High senior-to-be Jordan Bergstrom earned first place in the Young Men’s (ages 17-18) 200-meter dash (22.32) and he placed second in the 400 (50.10).
Oregon City High graduate Trevor Ferguson headed the field in the Young Men’s triple jump (45-3), placed fifth in the high hurdles (15.55) and placed seventh in the long jump (21-7-3/4).
Gladstone junior-to-be Brita Kintz cleared 10-6 for first place in the Intermediate Girls (ages 15-16) pole vault.
Nine-year-old Samantha Johnson of Milwaukie Track Club won the Bantam Girls (ages 9-10) 1,500-meter race-walk (12:16.15) and 7-year-old Lily Trimble of Milwaukie Track Club placed third in the sub-Bantam Girls (ages 8-and-under) long jump (9-9-3/4).
Oregon City graduate Tyler Ferguson placed eighth in the Young Men’s triple jump (41-4).
The regional champions have qualified for the National Championships, scheduled later this month in Sacramento, Calif.
