“I think the keys tonight were Bryce not throwing any picks, and our defense making huge plays and stopping Cook,” said Oltman.
“We did the same thing [losing our first game] last year and we made it to the quarterfinals,” said Cook. “We’re going to come back stronger every week and hopefully we’ll make it to the quarterfinals again.”
The contest was a battle between two of the TRL’s top quarterbacks.
For West Linn, Baker completed 16-of-24 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns, with no interceptions.
Cook found the mark on 24-of-34 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns, but he had two interceptions.
Oltman had a big night for West Linn, with seven catches for 109 yards.
Adler made nine catches for 97 yards.
The Lions had more success on the ground. Led by Kraus, who was seeing his first action of the season after rehabilitating a torn calf muscle, the Lions out-gained the Cavaliers on the ground, 139 to 40 yards. Kraus picked up 71 yards on 15 carries.
