Ten players later, Nagel danced in from the 1. Austin Thul split the uprights, and the Falcons were up 7-0.
La Salle also threaten near the end of the second quarter, but a drive ended at the Gladiator 1, when time ran out on the first-half clock.
The Falcons’ second score came midway through the third period, at the end of a 10-play, 90-yard drive. Nagel sprinted in from the 2, upping the gap to 14-0.
Nagel’s third score came three minutes into the final period. The 5-10, 200-pound senior hauled in a sideline pass from Hicks and bulled his way eight yards to the end zone, capping off a 45-yard drive. Thul split the uprights, and the scoreboard read La Salle 21, Gladstone 0.
“When we got up 21-0, I knew it was over,” said Hicks. “You could see it in their faces.”
A minute later, La Salle defensive lineman Brian Lockner tackled Taft in the end zone for a safety.
Cam Keeney returned the ensuing kick 25 yards to the Gladstone 47. And five plays later, Nagel dashed untouched 31 yards up the middle for the game’s final score.
The Falcons take their show on the road next Friday, when they battle 12th-ranked Estacada (6-1, 3-1) at Estacada.
The Gladiators get a break from league action, hosting 11th-ranked Cottage Grove.

I'm sorry but even your coach was getting on the gladstone players for quitting

There's a new "pecking order" in the conference. This gladstone senior class is maybe the only class to have NEVER beaten LaSalle in football.

By the way "People quoted" in the article don't need any "more respect". I'm sure they got plenty of that!

Regarding the need to "shut up", you really need to take your own advice! If you really think that three young men are going to speak unemotionally, immediately after winning their biggest game so far this season, then "you" are really self absorbed! Get over it. This is high school football and we didn't train our kids to be bots. They were just basking in the moment, relieved at winning after such high expectations. If they said something politically incorrect in the moment, then chalk it up to 17 year old enthusiasm. Stop making it more then it is...

LaSalle actually has the most humble group of young me and a coach that helps them understand that! All that is expressed immediately after a game is enthusiasm. Nothing more!
This stadium is now the LaSalle home turf. Sorry you don't like it. What are you going to say when their new field is complete? Because it's different it's not home?

Prayer, clean life style, keeping up with the grades,
and 100% (focussed) effort during football practice by
LaSalle's team-payers is paying handsome dividends on
both "offense" and "defense".
It's not very often (for any team)
that the "defense" scores a safety!

After the '05 and 06' Gladstone/LaSalle football games I thought Gladstone's field was our (LaSalle's) "home turf!

Hope the mud in Estacada proves a hindrance to Nagel. Too bad a talent like him has an attitude that comes with him.

Let's see. Nagel said "our offensive line was too much for them." THAT quote is not an attitude but a compliment to his offensive line. Secondly they WERE dominated on both sides of the ball. You must be an embarrassed mother to illogically get to your conclusion. Do you know ANYTHING about football.

He also said "Gladstone's a pretty good team" When you beat a team 30-0 that's being pretty generous.

"Wait til next year". I think we heard that loser's refrain after the '05 game, the '06 game and now the '07 game. You've been "waiting" a while now.

I think you are prescient about one thing though. The mud at Estacada will most likely be more formidable than the Gladstone defense

Gladstone has always been our rival. I am LaSalle grad from many years ago and gladstone has always had a good sports program. Good rivals. I always loved playing you in the old days even if you beat us most of the time.
Hats off to the Glads !!! I still enjoy watching the
battle.

Yeah, A great class rival no matter what era. In my time , we never beat Gladstone in football. The have always had a great spots program and are always very competitive. In fact, as a football player at LaSalle in the late 80's, it was a heated rivalry between Gladstone. At 17 years old, I was very emotional and for a 17 year old had about as much class as a 17 YEAR OLD! but it wasn't just the players who would show little class, it was the families at Gladstone as well. I think LaSalle still has the edge over Gladstone for showing maturity and class. Don't get me wrong, nobody is perfect, but the stick doesn't fall very far from the tree, if you get my drift.
Why couldn't the Gladstone fans just say we got beat instead of justifying the loss. I can never remember making excuses when we got beat, but that was probably viewed as being weak by Schools like Gladstone.
Anyway, I'm sure Gladstone will have their time again, but until then, I am going to enjoy LaSalle's Success. Go Falcons!

La Salle's o-line is really well coached. As the game went on they never laid off and kept hitting hard. Those boys gave Hicks and Nagel ample time to throw and run. #50 has a great punch and their other tackle Whalen, #72 is a workhorse on offense as well as defense. As we all know you can't have a good offense or score without a sound line and for them to put up 30 points against the ex-#6 team in the state is HUGE. Also I applaud their d-line as well holding them to the goose egg. The Falcons have an all-around well-trained linemen corps. And I can't resist.......did this remind anyone else of La Salle vs. Stayton?
