Thomas had Estacada’s keeper with 15 saves, while he said that the Rangers had only three shots in their attack.
Taylor McCarty scored Estacada’s lone goal on a free kick.
The win kept the Gladiators atop the Capital Conference standings heading into an Oct. 5 showdown with La Salle (4-0-1).
“We’re both undefeated in league,” said Thomas. “It should be a good game.”
The Glads begin the second half of the conference season tonight, when they play host to North Marion.
“I’m happy with where we’re at, considering we’re so young,” said Thomas. “But they have the potential to be better. We need to play a full 80 minutes and not just 40 or 50 minutes if we’re going to be successful in postseason.”
Gladstone boys (4-2-1, 3-2-0) weren’t as fortunate as the girls in play last week, as they dropped a home game to Estacada 2-1.
“It was a pretty evenly played match,” said Gladstone coach Tyler Lewis. “We were a bit unlucky to not finish….
“We really didn’t make a lot of mistakes defensively, but they were able to score on a missed clear that found the back of the net and on one that landed at the feet of one of their best goal scorers.”
Estacada went up 1-0 on an own-goal scored just eight minutes into the match. Ethan Schwanz scored the equalizer for Gladstone eight minutes into the second half, with the assist coming from Marco Thompson.
